Gallery Talk at SAMA: Portraits and Self-portraits from the Contemporary Collection

San Antonio, Texas. ART Magazine.

After the outstanding Mary Kargl Lecture Series where renowned artists, whose pieces are on display at San Antonio Collects: Contemporary, such as Willie Cole, Barbara Rose, and others, gave several insightful public lectures, the San Antonio Museum of Art will continue with its usual weekly conversations at the museum. Tomorrow, David Rubin, the Brown Foundation Curator of Contemporary Art, will give a 20-minute talk where he will discuss work by Albert Alvarez, David Zamora Casas, Ed Saavedra, and Alex Rubio.

The four artists are well-known in our city and all of them have works in the San Antonio Museum of Art’s permanent collection. Portraits and Self-portraits from the Contemporary Collection, will discuss the introspective nature of these artists. The gallery talk will take place from 6:00-6:30 pm. The free event is a perfect opportunity to learn and engage in the analysis of our local scene through a sagacious perspective by David Rubin.
